Watercolor

We love taking walks and exploring the outdoors as a family. Ukiah and I especially like drawing and painting so we decided to mix the two. Most of our library time is spent in the non-fiction section getting how-to books, biographies and more books on the things in nature. Sometimes we take our inspiration from the pages of books. I thought I would share a few of our watercolors with you.

This is my dragonfly. I had a lot of fun with it because things kept going wrong so I had to change my ideas of what I wanted it to look like.

This is a bullfrog tadpole that Levi painted.

This is Ukiah's bullfrog.

This is my spider.

Levi's newt.

It is such a nice medium to work with because if you make a mistake, you can just change it into something else! I will try to find something that Silas has done and post that too.

Thanks for the inspiration for our nature journals. I'm not an artist, but I do enjoy the outdoors and hope to learn more about God's wonderful world.

You're welcome. :) I always wanted to be an artist...sometimes in my younger years even thought of myself as an artist...but then I would see the work of REAL artists and say I am NOT an artist.

Drew and Silas are not very artistic when it comes to putting things down on paper, yet they are both very creative. Drew can put together a room and set a table SO beautifully. He can turn a plain yard into a paradise. Silas makes Lego and K'nex masterpieces! I think everyone is artistic in some way- you just have to find your "canvas". We all often bring things in the house to decorate with that we have found outside. God's creations are so inspiring.

Wow, I am so impressed. Those pictures came out so nice. At 11:30 last night I was calling my beloved over, "Look, look at what Penny did." He was in shock as well. My beloved can draw pretty good, and thought it came out awesome. Keep it up!!

Thank you Shereen (and Shereen's beloved). That is so nice and encouraging. I have to find time to paint more...I am just consumed with the garden right now. :)
